Earlier this spring, I took a four week photography course at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden called "The Magic Hour: Photography at Dusk." To tell the truth, I wasn't terribly impressed with the class and I didn't feel like I learned a whole lot, but I did get to photograph the garden after hours when there were very few people around, which was really cool.
Here are a few of my favorites from my first day of class:
Some magnolias (I think):
A couple of daffodils: I really like this photo because the bokeh kind of reminds me of a watercolor painting.
(Submitted to the Happiness Project at Leigh vs. Laundry and Sweet Shot Tuesdays at My 3 Boybarians.)
And another lone magnolia petal hanging on late in the season:
(Submitted to Black and White Wednesday at the Long Road to China.)
I also want to thank Bethany at the Five Subject Notebook for choosing me as the first place winner in her photo challenge for "happy" for this photo, which was also taken at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden:
Looks like a really beautiful garden...love the Magnolias!
ReplyDeleteLovely blooms but my favourite is the one with those daffodils. Thanks for the info on the filters - I think it would be very worthwhile to get one for the lens.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics - and I especially love the one of the daffodils!
ReplyDeletei really love that first one! and those falling blooms are so dreamy :)
ReplyDeletelovely pictures! I'm sorry you didn't find the class worthwhile, but at least it gave you the opportunity to shoot these. That last one, with the falling petals, is so pretty. Are those cherry blossoms, or more magnolias?
ReplyDeleteWow! I love that last one, with the petals seeming to rain down. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteI love all these flower shots, but especially the last one with the blossoms all raining down - what a beautiful moment!
ReplyDeleteStunning last photo of petal rain....
