I've always been the girl with the camera who takes a million pictures so I finally decided to seriously try to learn about photography in 2009, and I have been obsessed ever since.

My photography history:
I've had a camera since I was 10 years old, when I got a Polaroid Instant Camera. In the summer of 2009, I finaly decided that I should learn how to take my camera out of auto. At that point, I had a Canon Powershot A720 which is a point and shoot that has manual controls, and I started to experiment with it. I learned about the exposure triangle from Digital Photography School, and then, in October 2009, I took an Intro to Photography Course from Photo Manhattan. I also got my DSLR in November 2009. In 2010, I spent the year trying to learn more about photography by reading all that I could on the internet, joining some on-line boards, and doing a 365 Project where I had to take at least one photo every day for the year. While I am extremely proud of completing that project, I decided that this year I will be more relaxed about my photography because, unfortunately, I still have a day job. After all, this is supposed to be a fun hobby and not something to stress me out.
My Goals for 2011:
1. Finally learn how to use my editing programs. While I believe you should strive to perfect your photos as much as possible straight out of the camera (SOOC) and that photos should not be overly edited, you can enhance your photos by post-processing them. I, however, have been overwhelmed by this, so most of my photos, to date, have been minimally edited and any editing that has been done has not been that well executed. So this is my number one goal for the year.
2. Work on nailing focus.
3. Use my tripod more and to try slow shutter speed and night photography.
4. Try to make art, and not just taking a snapshot. This means, I want to try to purposely capture an image in a specific way, and not just take a picture of a pretty thing.
5. If I have accomplished my other goals consistently, I would like to learn more about flash (on and off camera) photography. This might have to wait until 2012, though.
