Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge

For mother's day, my mom and I went out to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, which is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area in Queens. Even though we only walked the flat two mile loop, it took us two hours because we stopped to take so many photos. There were tons of birds. I don't know anything about birds, but, according to what I read, there have been 330 different bird species spotted there in the last 25 years. Here are a few of my favorites.

    I really enjoyed looking through your photos! So many great ones! I love the close ups of the birds and the ladybug the most.

    Great wildlife photos - it's hard to believe that's in NYC! I may have to take a trip out there next time I'm in the area as I've never seen it.

    Love the one of the yellow warbler (I think) in the middle of the gray and brown brush and water. Beautiful!

    so many great shots!! I think my favorite was the one with the city skyline in the background. I love the contrast of city vs. nature.
